Frank Kimmel II Clutches Victory at Salem
Ansell and Menards Set to Honor Kimmel's 400th-Career Start with Different Colors

MOORESVILLE, NC (July 1, 2010) - Frank Kimmel II wheeled his No. 68 Prodigy General Contractors, McKenzie Synthetic Inc. and Eddie Gilstrap Motors Super Stock to victory lane Friday, June 27th at Salem Speedway (IN) marking his first win of the season. With luck on his side, Kimmel II was able to hold off the competition and continue his successful streak at Salem.

After rain washed out the early morning qualifying session, the field lined up for the Super Stock Lucas Oil 40 raced based on the drivers' current points standings. Also taking into account the five drawn for the field invert, Kimmel II started fourth with the goal to just stay out of trouble. When the green flag waved, the car starting directly in front of Kimmel II missed a shift, relegating him back to the seventh position by the time he reached turn one.

Kimmel II patiently began his climb back to the front, working his way to the sixth position by lap 10. A heated battle for the lead sent the first and second-place cars spinning to the rear of the field a few laps later, moving Kimmel II into the top-five. The action never stopped as Kimmel gained another position after another competitor was forced to retire the race when his car overheated, bringing out the yellow-flag. Kimmel quickly passed the second-place driver on the restart, and set his sights on first place. Breathing down the leader's back bumper, Kimmel II effortlessly captured the top spot after the first-place car broke a spindle on lap 18. Once out front, Kimmel II was able to pull away from the field by a straightaways length, leading the remaining laps and taking home his first win of the season.

"It was great to finally get my first win of the season," said Kimmel II. "In our first few races we've come close to winning, so it was good to see all the guys in victory lane - it was nice to have the sponsors there with us, too. I mean we battled a tight car all throughout practice, but we got it right for the race and that's what counts."

Kimmel will look to chase down another victory when he battles his father, Frank Kimmel, and cousin, Will Kimmel at Salem Speedway on Sunday, July 4th, for the Papa John's Firecracker 200. The event will mark the first time the trio will compete against one another in race competition.
